Bali (Indonesia)

Bali will soon introduce a 5-year visa for digital nomads. Following that, digital nomads will be able to live and work in Bali for up to five years, with the option to extend the visa for an additional five years.

Furthermore, digital nomads will be able to bring their online income into the country TAX-FREE, supporting and strengthening the local economy.

The administration remains confident that the visa will be available by 2023.

Visa Cost:

From $295 to $650

Income Requirements: Banks balance of $140,000

Visa Length: 2 to 6 months year can be extended

In the meantime, while you wait for Bali to launch their digital nomad visa, you can apply for the Visit Visa B211A, also known as the Social Visa or Cultural Visa, which is valid for 60 days and can be extended twice for another 60 days each. After 180 days, you can apply for a B211A Business Visa ONSHORE to extend your stay for another two years.

Dubai (United Arab Emirates, UAE)

Dubai, like many other countries, has issued digital nomad visas. The “Work Remotely from Dubai” visa is Dubai’s digital nomad visa. Through its Work Remotely from Dubai programme, Dubai has been welcoming remote workers and digital nomads since March 2021. The scheme allows anyone who qualifies to move to Dubai and enjoy most of the same rights as any other resident.

Visa Cost:

From $81 to $287

Income Requirements: at least $5,000 monthly

Visa Length: 1 year

Malaysia

Malaysia issued its digital nomad visa, the DE Rantau Nomad Pass, in October 2022. Freelancers, remote workers, and digital nomads can stay in Malaysia for up to a year with this visa. Visa holders receive the DE Rantau Nomad Pass, which grants them access to coworking spaces and other digital nomad services.

Visa Cost:

$221 plus $110 per dependent

Income Requirements: at least $24,000 per year

You should hear something about your visa application within four weeks. You will receive an email response and your visa upon arrival in Malaysia. You will then be able to travel to Malaysia on or after the visa’s initial validity date. 

Taiwan

Taiwan does not have a visa designed specifically for digital nomads. However, they do have the Employment Gold Card Visa. It was implemented in February 2018 to order to attract talented and productive foreign workers to the country. It’s a four-in-one card that combines an open-ended work permit, a resident visa, an alien resident certificate, and a re-entry permit.

The card allows workers (remote or otherwise) to stay in Taiwan for one to three years and costs between USD 100 and 310 USD, depending on the applicant’s nationality and length of stay.

$230 to $300 depends on the length of the visa

Thailand

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand introduced the Long-Term Residence Visa. Thailand Long-Term Residence (LTR) Visa is a popular visa category for foreign nationals who want to stay in Thailand for an extended period. This type of visa allows holders to live and work in Thailand for up to ten years and provides numerous benefits such as access to healthcare, education, and the ability to open a bank account.

Most Nomads use the tourist visa, which allows you to stay for 60 days and extend it for another 30 days.

Turkey

There is no specific digital nomad visa programme in Turkey. Foreigners interested in remote work can apply for a visa and live in any city in Turkey if they follow immigration rules.

The Turkish Residence Permit allows you to stay in Turkey for more than three months in a half-year period for reasons such as settlement, employment, or study. A residence permit will allow you to live in Turkey, study, marry, purchase property etc.

Visa Cost:

$8.75 for the 1st month, then $2.60 per month after, plus $11 visa card & $70.50 single entry fee

Income Requirements: at least $550 each month

The timeline for completing the entire process varies depending on where you apply. It takes about 3 to 4 months in Istanbul and about 2 to 3 months in Ankara.
