Cabo Verde

Cabo Verde launched their digital nomad visa, dubbed the Cabo Verde Remote Working Program, in December 2020. It grants remote workers a six-month temporary work and tourism visa. You can also renew it after your time is up if you want to stay longer.

Applicants must:

  • Have a minimum bank account balance of €1,500 (1,500 euros) for individuals and €2,700 for families for the last six months.
  • Include five documents with your application, including a passport and proof of health insurance.
  • Present 10 documents to border authorities in person after arriving at one of the ten islands, though there is some overlap between the two sets of documents.

Visa Cost:

$21 visa fee and $31 airport fee

Income Requirements: $1,800 per month as an individual, $2,800 per month as a family.

Visa Length:6 months, renewable for another 12 months

Who can apply? Anyone from Europe, North America, the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), and the Economic Community of West African States (CEDEAO)

Mauritius

In October 2020, Mauritius launched its Premium Travel Visa, aimed at digital nomads who want to work remotely in Mauritius. The Premium Travel Visa has a one-year validity period and can be renewed. The Premium Travel Visa is entirely free of charge.

This visa is available to digital nomads, travellers, retirees, and other professionals, as well as their family members.

Applicants must still show a monthly income of at least USD 1,500 for each applicant and $500 for each dependent under the age of 24. Prospective travellers must submit multiple documents with their online application, including a valid passport, proof of travel and health insurance, and a copy of their marriage certificate (if applicable).

Visa Cost:

Free

Income Requirements: $1,500/mo as an individual, $3,000/mo for couples. Additional $500/dependent under 24 years old.

Visa Length:12 months, renewable for another 12 months

Applications are processed within 48 hours of submission. The delivery of the visa may take several weeks, with a total timeline of approximately 2 to 8 weeks before obtaining your visa.

Namibia

The Namibia Digital Nomad Visa programme was established to allow those seeking priceless memories while also gaining international work experiences and establishing lifelong contacts to do so for as little as USD124 (excluding other costs). The Namibia Digital Nomad Visa will be valid for a period of six months.

Visa Cost:

Up to $62 per person

Income Requirements: $2,000 Your spouse must make at least $1,000 per month, and you must set aside $500 per month for each child.

Visa Length:6 months, possible to extend

The programme allows for a quick and easy visa application from the comfort of your own home. The visa allows our participants to work, travel and study in Namibia. It will be issued for a total of six months upon your arrival.

Seychelles

The digital nomad community in Seychelles is growing. Their programme is known as the Workcation Program. It offers two options: one for employees and one for self-employed individuals. The Seychelles Workcation programme allows digital nomads to work remotely from any of the archipelago’s 115 islands for as little as one month or as long as one year.

There is a €45 fee, and prospective travellers must also submit a valid passport, proof of employment/business ownership, proof of income (exact amount unspecified), and a valid medical and travel insurance policy with their application.

Family members may accompany an applicant as ordinary visitors if they meet all requirements and submit birth and/or marriage certificates, as applicable.

South Africa

South Africa suffered a significant decline in tourism because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The government is now attempting to reactivate the economy by offering a digital nomad visa to recoup some of the losses. The digital nomad visa allows remote workers to live and work from South Africa for longer than 90 days. Even though it was announced in April 2022, this visa has yet to become active.
